aldeburgh is a small seaside town on the unspoilt east suffolk coast where holidaymakers spend time relaxing and enjoying a ‘slower’ pace of life.
once in aldeburgh you have everything on the doorstep from restaurants and shops to activities including sailing, golf, cycling and walking along the shingle coastline. not far away is the famous snape maltings concert hall where you can eat, drink, shop, take in a concert, river walk, a boat trip or bird watching.
the unique village of thorpeness is a short walk away from aldeburgh where in summer months you can hire a rowing boat on the meare.
aldeburgh has become well known for its carnival held over 3 days during august following 2 weeks of regatta racing on the river. It draws in huge crowds from far afield ending with a chinese lantern procession and spectacular fireworks on the beach. This years carnival is on 13th, 14th and 15th August

for such a small town aldeburgh offers a wide range of places to eat with the lighthouse bistro being a firm favourite. other restaurants include the regatta, 152, the pelican and prezzo (always a safe bet with children). we have a chinese takeaway and all the hotels offer a wide choice of menu with excellent food. last but not least aldeburgh is well known for its excellence in fish and chips and a visit here is a must.
